Gulf Shores 2011

We spent a week in Gulf Shores for vacation and had so much fun! There was so much laughing together, lots of little girl and sweet grandparent time, lots of fun cooking with chef Aunt JJ, lots of fun water time, lots of napping. It was just a really good family vacation! Kathryn is a little fish this year and she found a love for side ponytails, she wanted one every day. Poor baby got stung by a jellyfish the very first day, it was quite traumatic for her, part of the stinger got stuck in her skin (ouch!). She never got back in the ocean, not that I blame her. Her Papa saved her and she is forever grateful to have a Papa that's a Dr. We heard about how he is her hero all week. She was a great trooper and would still go build and play in the sand, but kept all water time jumping and swimming in the pool. Lauren was very timid this year, this was a surprise to us. The last 2 summers, she has scared me to death, she had no fear. She had fun swimming, but was always close to the steps with a floatie on. It was a pleasant surprise. She was a rockstar napper too. She had stopped napping, but I guess we played so much and so hard that she napped every single day. It made the evening much more enjoyable for the rest of us. We stayed in an awesome, huge condo. We all had our own rooms, including the girls...thank you! We all slept great, watched movies together, ventured out together, but also had our own space to unwind if we needed. It was just wonderful. We ate so well, chef JJ cooked amazing food for us every night. We never ate out. I promise if you would have tasted it, you wouldn't have wanted to go out either. We so appreciate her talents! We did some outlet and souvenir shopping, rode go carts one night, explored a little around town, but for the most part we were outside enjoying the water. Josh and Judith rented a kayak for a day and had fun, I opted to stay poolside with the girls! They had fun though. Our sweet neighbors were down there on vacation too, so we got to play with them one evening, it was a nice treat! It was a great time, we will have such great memories from it and I can't wait till next summer vacation!
